Sunshine Technology is discussing leasing large areas of suitable land in the Orinoco River basin. Much of the area was considered unsafe until recently, but the situation is improving markedly thanks to government emphasis on post-conflict integration.

Growth conditions for short-rotation, high-yield plantations are generally excellent, but logistical and infrastructure challenges will need to be overcome for a plantation to be commercially viable.
